The purpose of this course is to assist students intending to conduct scientific research, providing a foundation for students to work on thesis projects and graduation papers. This is a necessary course in the English major curriculum. Students with a background in research methodology will be equipped with in-depth knowledge of research methods in applied linguistics in general and research on language teaching and learning in particular. With a practical approach, the content of the course includes problem setting in applied linguistics research, commonly used methods in research on language teaching and learning, citation skills to avoid plagiarism, and the use of computer and statistical software for data processing.
